The Kingdom of Heaven: Misandry 101 »
I am just so confused by men’s rights types. Like, has this person ever interacted with anyone before? Because man oh man was that post ever divorced from reality.
As a society we DO act like all things *girly* are bad. That’s just obvious!
How many…
Well, men are still restricted. Not nearly as much as women, but still. They’re not allowed to wear skirts, or feminine clothing of any kind, where as we women are allowed to wear menswear and it’s seen as either cute or the mark of a professional woman. They’re not allowed to wear makeup, even if they need it or want it.They’re taught not to hit girls, even in self-defense, and if they’re in a physical confrontation with a female, they either have to suffer the shame of being beaten up by a girl, or being ostracized for defending himself.
Men are expected to be both sensitive, and manly. Even my mother, she bitches that my dad isn’t manly enough, and more often then not emasculates him by calling him a bitch, weak, and sensitive. I can understand how they would be confused, taught that they’re supposed to respect women, but at the same time male culture still wants them to treat women as sex objects and each one they fuck is just another notch on their bedpost. Even if they’re not ready for sex, they’re supposed to get laid as soon as they hit adolescence because the concept of a virgin male is *horrifying*. I know, women are taught just the opposite, to hold onto their virginity as long as possible, but the point is it exists on both sides of the fence.
I feel just as bad for men as I do for women, to be honest. Both have their areas where they’re oppressed, and I can’t support women’s rights without supporting men’s rights as well, or I’m simply a hypocrite.
The original point is still about oppression. Yes there is the gender binary and that does hurt everyone and no one is really arguing that a gender divide is good or ‘right.’ But men aren’t oppressed— which is the biggest point of criticism with a lot of men’s rights activism. To the point where they’re discussing “female privilege.” And “taking back rights women have stolen.”
I feel like a lot of the things you mentioned— not allowing men to be weak and the worst thing they can be is ‘bitches’— is actually playing more out of misogyny than misandry. I have several brothers and I’ve seen with my own eyes what sort of restrictions they have on them— but because they’re men they’re still probably going to have a higher paying job and more opportunities just because their men.
I feel like you caught the end of the discussion without the context of the original post we were talking about— which was a huge post filled with links to why feminism is bad basically and how women are privileged because they “get to make decisions about their own child and no one but them can abort the baby.” Because you know, a privilege of being a woman is having control of her own body.
